Greek Week is in full swing, but the brothers of Alpha Tau Omega are not forgetting about their own philanthropy: Cornhole for a Cure.

The philanthropy is a two-part event: a cornhole tournament and an educational program that featured three speakers. The speakers were Robert Howden, from Shriners Hospital for Children in Erie, Jamie Lucido and Olivia Campbell.

Campbell and Lucido are both Kent State students and have both used facilities like Shriners Hospitals while dealing with muscular disorders.

“In the past we have always donated the money to a specific family,” said Tim Dunams, sophomore nursing major. “This year we are donating to an organization in honor of two Kent State students.”

All the proceeds will benefit Shriners Hospitals for Children. Shriners provides medical care to children with neuromusculoskeletal conditions, burn injuries and other special health care needs.

The entry fee for the bracket-style cornhole tournament is $20 per team. Alpha Tau Omega will also be selling t-shirts and wristbands for spectators.

The cornhole tournament will start at noon Saturday in Risman Plaza, outside the Student Center.
