Our View: Yay for Sheryl Crow!

DKS Editors

Kent State has managed to pull the Grammy-Award-winning singer/songwriter Sheryl Crow for a concert at Dix Stadium Sept. 8. Tickets for the performance go on sale today through Ticketmaster and at the Kent State Ticket Office.

The “Centennial Campaign” concert will serve as a celebration of the conclusion of the university’s $250-million fundraising effort. The concert is presented by the Kent State University Foundation.

When we found out about this, we thought it was quite exciting and an impressive move for the university. Let’s be honest, Crow has won nine Grammys and has performed for President Barack Obama. Who would’ve thought she would consider performing for a large university in a small town in Northeast Ohio?

Not everyone may be a huge Sheryl Crow fan or be familiar with her music. But Crow has proven to be a real star in all genres and can offer something for those interested in pop, country and even rock. There’s almost no way you can be dissatisfied with a Sheryl Crow performance.

We commend the foundation for this feat and hopefully it’s the start of many amazing musical performances at Dix Stadium.
