BFA senior dance performance ‘At(ten)tion’ begins Thursday
February 29, 2012
Senior dance performance majors will present their original works at the BFA Senior Dance Concert at 8 p.m. March 1-3 in the Louis O. Erdmann and William H. Zucchero Black Box Theatre located in the Music and Speech Center.
Barbara Verlezza, associate dance professor, is the faculty artistic director for the concert.
The concert, titled “At(ten)tion to Detail” is comprised of 10 different pieces; each is the individual work of a senior dance performance major. Verlezza said dance performance majors are required to participate in the concert as a graduation requirement.
“There are 10 choreographers who are graduating in May,” Verlezza said. “It’s literally about seven months of on-going work.”
The concert will close with a piece performed by the graduating seniors.
“They are the choreographers for the show,” Verlezza said, “but in the last piece, and it will close the evening, they are all dancing together. They get one opportunity to show the audience what kind of performers they are, because they’re both choreographers and performers.”
Tickets can be purchased at the box office, by phone at 330-672-2497, or online at www.dance.kent.edu. Tickets are $8 for students, $12 for seniors, $14 for faculty/staff/KSU alumni and $16 for adults.
