New Dean of Undergraduate Studies announced
January 30, 2012
Kent State has finally found its new dean of undergraduate studies. The position has been vacant since November 2010.
Dr. Said Sewell, a native of Houston, Texas, has authored three books and several articles pertaining to faith-based initiatives, community and economic development, religion, politics and juvenile issues.
In a statement released by the university Friday, Sewell said he was excited to be a part of the Kent State family.
“Kent State is a great and highly ranked public university with a distinguished faculty, stellar staff, exceptional students, nationally known programs and dedicated administration. I could not resist joining this awesome team,” Sewell said. “I come to Kent State because I believe in the mission and vision of the university.”
The office of undergraduate studies focuses on programs central to the success of undergraduate students. Helping students transition to college life, academic advising and student retention will be just a few of the areas Sewell will oversee.
Sewell will take over the position April 15.
