Food delivery service comes to the library

Boar’s Head Deli now delivers its sandwiches and sides to the library. Students and faculty can order lunch delivery for 11:30 a.m., 12 p.m., 12:30 p.m. and 1 p.m., Monday through Friday using cash or flash cash.
Director of Dining Services Richard Roldan said serving students and faculty is one of the main reasons for the food delivery.

“This is more of an office type delivery service,” he said. “Many faculty members have offices in the library, not to mention the amount of students who are there on a daily basis. We are just trying to service a need.”
Maddie Coffman, junior nursing major, said she goes to the library a few times a week and usually brings her lunch.
“I like the idea of the food delivery,” she said. “It’s better than having to stand in long lines at the Hub,” she said.
As of now, students can order any of Boars Head’s signature sandwiches, deserts and salads by calling and placing an order one hour before desired delivery time. Students pick up their order in the main lobby by the Starbucks cart.
Jonnise Brown, junior exercise science major, said she spends a lot of time at the library and likes the food delivery idea as well.
“The sandwiches are great,” she said. “They also are a healthier alternative to ordering a pizza.”
James Bracken, dean of the library, said he appreciates the idea.
“We would rather use dining services for our catered events and lunches as oppose to ordering from outside sources such as Hungry Howies,” he said. “It adds more variety.”
Justin Cole, freshman exploratory major, said he hasn’t tried Boar’s Head but would be willing to try the service.
“It is convenient because then people don’t have to leave,” Cole said. “Maybe at some point, if they expand the hours, I’ll give it a try.”
Roldan said this service is a trial run.
“We’ll definitely expand if the serves are being used,” he said.
As far as increasing the amount of food in the library, Bracken said it’s not a problem.
“We don’t have a strict policy against food,” he said. “It’s not a problem as long as you clean up after yourself.”
