Kent State has, once again, been recognized as one the world’s most prestigious universities. For the third consecutive year, KSU has been ranked in the top 500 best universities in the world by the Academic Ranking of World Universities.

The annual ranking measures the performance of over 1,000 universities world-wide. The judgment criteria is based on the number of alumni and staff winning Nobel Prizes and Fields Medals, the number of highly cited researchers, and per capita performance with respect to the size of an institution.

Associate Vice President for University Communications and Marketing, Tom Neumann, is excited to see Kent recognized by the organization.

Neumann says that it’s nice to be recognized on a global scale and that the University’s outstanding research team is why Kent stands out from the rest.

The published research by the faculty and staff here at Kent State, is one of the biggest leading factors that allow the university to make the prestigious list every year.

Senior general studies major, Caitlin Philpott, is glad to see KSU recognized on a global scale, hoping that this will help make her resume more appealing to potential employers.

While KSU falls into the top 400-500 range globally. It was listed in the top 140-150 in the nation.
