Kent State is moving forward with a new safety initiative, the sexual awareness response team or SART. The new program helps educate students on sexual assault, as well as preventative methods for avoiding an attack. SART is also designed to provide victims with the resources they need. The program is safe and confidential for all students.

Kent Police Lt. Paul Canfield suggests that students be aware of their surroundings when they’re going out. Cell phones and iPods can often be a common distraction among students walking alone, on or off campus, these distractions can make anyone a target for criminals.
