TV2: Police for a day
September 7, 2011
The Kent City Police are giving some lucky local residents a chance to walk a day in their shoes. Thirteen women and seven men of all ages meet Thursday nights at the Kent Police Department to learn what it’s like to be a cop.
The 12-week-long Kent Citizen Police Academy is free thanks to an 11,000 dollar grant.
Students had to fill out an application and pass a background check to get in to the program.
The course is hands on and will take students on a ride along with an officer and on a trip to the gun range.
There aren’t exams or homework, but students still take notes.
The class also has two mother daughter pairs.
