Why should I care?
The topics discussed in shows are those that students should be aware of.
The show puts a comedic spin on some serious issues.
The Kent State Sexual Assault Response Team is sponsoring an improvisation show, “Sex Signals,” Tuesday at Bowman Hall.
Sex Signals will have two showings, the first from 7-8:30 p.m. in Bowman Room 137, and the other from 9-10:30 p.m. in Bowman Room 133.
The show is a 75-minute, two-person play that engages the audience in discussions about sex, dating and the issue of consent.
It takes a comedic look at the awkwardness of dating, showing the effect of social pressure, gender stereotypes, and impractical fantasies on social interaction.
This comedy is used as a backdrop for such somber subjects as date rape and the tendency of some to view it as seduction and the bleak reality of victims blaming themselves because of their vulnerability.
The show pulls the audience into the play, questioning them about their beliefs and experiences.
Even as the actors, both adept in their fields, entertain the crowd with the differences between men and women, they impart serious messages about the golden rule: treat others how you wish to be treated.
