Visitors for Eagles Landing will no longer be able to use the complex’s gravel parking lot as of July 15.

Edwards Communities Development Company—which is planning to build a new 596-bed apartment complex on South Lincoln Street—purchased the property on the north end of the complex.

Property Manager Chris Miller said he’s trying to find a solution to make up for the loss of visitor parking before current and new residents return in the fall.

“It’s still up in the air. We just want to get the word out about the changes,” said Miller. “Hopefully, by August, things will be worked out.”

Miller, a Kent State University alumnus, said he’s keeping the students in mind while he creates a new parking plan.

“I want people to be patient,” said Miller. “We will let residents know once we have a plan.”

Residents of Eagles Landing were notified of the changes in early June through a memo. The complex will not tow occupants who choose to park in the lot after July 15, but explained residents would have to “park at their own risk” once ownership is turned over to Edwards Communities on that date.

Every resident of Eagles Landing will still have a parking spot, as required by Ohio Tenant Law. Current residents extending their lease through the next school year will have to return both their resident and visitor pass in order to obtain a new resident pass, according to the letter distributed to tenants.

Miller said he is considering future ideas to condense parking and utilize the available space, including removing designated motorcycle parking spots and dumpster facilities and restriping the parking lot entirely.
