Kent to celebrate 16th-annual Heritage Festival

Downtown Kent will come alive from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday for the celebration of Kent’s 16th-annual Kent Heritage Festival, an event featuring food, fireworks, train rides and more.
Main Stage Performance Schedule:
10 – 10:30 a.m.: Roberts Conservatory of Dance
10:30 – 11 a.m.: Buckeye Dance Steps
11 – 11:30 a.m.: Franklin School of Dance
11:30 a.m. – 12 p.m.: Welcome & National Anthem
12 – 12:45 p.m.: Rio Neon

MUSIC AND LIVE PERFORMANCES
Three stages downtown will simultaneously host performances throughout the day. Events on the main stage will begin at 10 a.m. and run through 11 p.m. The two side stages, on Erie Street and North Water Street, will begin hosting performances an hour later.

FOOD/VENDORS
Main and Water streets and College Ave will be packed with over 130 vendors selling food, artwork and other goods. Area businesses and organizations will also join in the action with informational tables and promotional item giveaways.
5K RACE
The 5K Tree City Race will begin at 7 p.m. The course will begin at Dix Stadium, go through campus and end at South Lincoln Street near the former DuBois Book Store. Registration before Saturday is $18 and race day registration is $23. Proceeds from the event will go to benefit The United Way. 157 Lounge will host an after-race party where runners over 21 will receive a free beer.

FIREWORKS
Fireworks are set to begin at 10 p.m. and will be launched at the old RB&W site on Mogodore Road. The fireworks have traditionally been launched from the Redmond Bridge, but construction required the launch site be moved this year. Best views of the fireworks will still be on the Main Street Bridge.
OTHER NOTES ABOUT THE EVENT:
Parking could prove difficult because of downtown construction. Drivers can park their cars in the Rockwell, Terrace and White hall parking lots and PARTA will provide downtown shuttles.
There will be no car show on Franklin Street this year, and instead parking will also be available on Franklin.
