Kent State University Planetarium presents its last spring show, “Cosmic Beginnings: Birth, Death and Rebirth in the Universe” at 8 p.m. Friday, Saturday and next Friday in Smith Hall Room 108.

The show focuses on the death and rebirth of stars, planets and galaxies in the sky, since spring is the time of rebirth and renewal on Earth, Planetarium Director Brett Ellman said.

“It shows all the billions of violent and beautiful things that happen constantly above our heads,” he said.

Ellman said he wishes those who attend would learn about what occurs in the universe.

“I hope they just gain an appreciation of the wonderful things that one can see in the sky and all the cool things that happen all the time in the universe,” he said.

The show is free and open to the public but not recommended for children younger than six. While not mandatory, those interested can reserve tickets by calling (330) 672-2246.

Ellman encouraged students to come because the show is a fun, relaxing way to learn about the universe.

“You’re not going to be given a test,” he said. “You get to watch a lot of the sky overhead, and it’s really pretty in there.”
