Photojournalism students will be presenting “A Time to Share,” a photo project aimed to keep alive the stories of veterans in Northeast Ohio, at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Franklin Hall’s First Energy Room.

Senior photojournalism major Jessica Kanalas said the event starts with a gallery style set-up, showing pictures of each of the veterans students talked to for the project.

Kanalas said she estimated the class talked to two-dozen veterans, but not all of them made it into the final project.

“We wanted to preserve their story because unfortunately it is a dying generation and they need someone to carry on their knowledge and experiences from the war,” she said.

Kanalas said she had one particular veteran she followed and visited four or five times.

“I enjoyed hearing the powerful story and getting to know the people behind it,” she said.

The inspiration, she said, was to use photography as a way of storytelling, which is the goal of photojournalist.

The show is going to be first shown at 7 p.m., but Kanalas said there will be a second showing at 8:30 p.m. Additional photos and multimedia content can be found at the project’s website at http://photostorytellers.squarespace.com.
