Nine steps to achieve the perfect Zoom makeup look (you’re welcome)
July 30, 2020
In our current global climate, we’ve seen the rising popularity of online school and working from home. This often entails the inescapable uniform of sweatpants, but every once in a while a virtual meeting or class may be a part of your workday. If this is the case, you’re going to want to look your best. Here’s your guide for the ultimate Zoom makeup look.
Neutrogena’s Hydro Boost Water Gel: $18.49
Everyone loves a fresh, dewy makeup look. Achieving this youthful effect has never been easier. If you want to show off your skin game during your next virtual class or online meeting, Neutrogena’s Hydro Boost Water Gel has answered your calling. The active ingredient is hyaluronic acid, which locks moisture into the skin and keeps that dewy look lasting for hours. Plus, who wouldn’t trust a skincare product endorsed by the effortlessly, age-defying Kerry Washington?
It Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye concealer: $27
Next, you’re going to want to put on a good foundation/concealer. We’ve all been in the situation where we wake up for a virtual meeting mere minutes before it begins, [or maybe it’s just me who has been taking advantage of a frequent nap time schedule during the stay-at-home order]. Either way, waking up with dark circles and bags under the eyes is common. The best product to hide those quarantine blemishes is It Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye. The best part? It’s anti-aging! I don’t know about you guys, but I think I’ve aged a year in the past month from stress, fear and the inescapable closeness of family members. Even if this isn’t you, all blemishes vanish with the Bye Bye Under Eye Concealer.
Kaleido Cosmetics Skin Blush: $8
Next, we’re going to add some color. I know most of us haven’t seen the sun in weeks, but we’re going to simulate a nice sunkissed look with Kaleido Cosmetics Skin Blush. Available in five lovely shades, this blush is going to stay no matter how long your classmate or co-worker’s presentation lasts. This blush is made from 100 percent plant based ingredients and is completely cruelty-free. Plus, one of the shades is called “Surrender.” This seems on brand for me because I have personally been trying my best lately to surrender to the unavoidable change that our world is currently facing. That’s right. Good blush acknowledges global crises.
OFRA Cosmetics highlighter: $35
After completing that session of makeup therapy, you’re going to want to add some highlighter that really pops. No matter how low or non-existent the lighting is in your living room, OFRA Cosmetics has the highlighter that is going to make your cheekbones appear to defy gravity. Their product will melt right into your skin and give you that shimmer you’ve always wanted. If this doesn’t get you that raise, I don’t know what will.
Skywash by Glossier: $18
By now, you’re probably running out of time before the meeting begins, but don’t worry. A great time saver is this quick and easy-to-apply lid tint called Skywash by Glossier. What’s so genius about it is that it’s a liquid-to-powder formula. You heard it, no more of the five different brushes and excessive blending techniques required with regular eyeshadow. With Skywash, you’ll easily get full lid coverage. Not to mention, that cutie who usually sits far away across the classroom or office will get a clear view of your eyes virtually popping with color.
Sketch Marker eyeliner by Too Faced: $22
But, no lid tint is complete without a good eyeliner to top it. I personally love the Sketch Marker Eyeliner by Too Faced. “Marker?” you may ask. Yes. This product was originally inspired by Japanese calligraphy pens. That fun fact will surely convince Joe from the IT department that makeup is in fact, art.
Lights, Camera, Splashes waterproof mascara by Tarte: $23
Next, you’ll need some mascara. If you’re like me, you’ve either been crying while watching the news lately, or wiping off most of your mascara during those frequent naps we were talking about earlier. Right now, the world is a scary place and the last thing you need to fear is the possibility of ruining your mascara. With the Lights, Camera, Splashes waterproof mascara by Tarte, your luscious lashes will remain intact all day [no matter how difficult your day may be].
Boy Brow by Glossier: $16
After that, you’ll want to achieve the perfect eyebrow game. Another one of my favorites by Glossier is the Boy Brow. This decade has seen the arrival and dismissal of many eyebrow trends, but the natural brow is currently the most desirable look, [which is convenient for me, because I can’t get out of the house to have my eyebrows waxed]. Either way, this product is easy-to-apply and gives your brows a polished, yet natural look. Perfect for any Zoom aesthetic.
ColourPop’s Lux Gloss: $8
You’ve almost completed your ultimate Zoom glam look. Lastly, you’ll want to top it off with a lip gloss that makes for the perfect pout [so you can beg for that raise]. ColourPop’s Lux Gloss has your back. With their tinted and lustrous lip gloss, you’ll be winning the Zoom makeup game. Plus, their products are super affordable because they’re made, packaged and shipped all from one warehouse in California. Basically, all of the employees know each other personally, which must make for a fun Zoom meeting call.
You’ve now achieved the perfect virtual meeting makeup look. Now go impress your professor/boss, perfectly deliver that presentation and show of your effortlessly, yet incredibly glamorous look.
