The Kent State men’s basketball team defeated Furman 78-74 in overtime at the M.A.C. Center tonight.

The Flashes (4-1) ended the half with a 38-31 lead, thanks to 12 points from 18 foul shots.

After Furman (2-1) tied it at 42-42 with 13:33 on the clock, the teams battled for the lead the rest of the second half.

A Furman 3-pointer tied up the game at 65-65 with .9 seconds left.

Junior center Justin Manns dunked at 4:36 in the overtime period, sparking the Kent State lead that held all the way to a 78-74 finale.

“(Furman is) a veteran, strong team, and they physically manhandled us in the second half,” said Kent State coach Geno Ford. “But we got just enough to win.”
