Songfest raises more than $23,000
November 8, 2010
Participants in Songfest, the annual Greek philanthropy event, raised more than $23,000 for charity.
“I think it was a great turnout,” said Melanie Notch, who is a sophomore fashion merchandising major and Delta Zeta member. “We had to turn people away.”
The event took place Saturday in the Student Center Ballroom. All social Greek chapters were paired into six teams, which sang, danced and performed skits. Fundraising efforts began once the chapters were put into their teams about three weeks ago.
All donations will be given to Hattie Larlham, a non profit organization that provides services to adult and children with developmental disabilities.
“I had some of my friends come and they were pretty amazed,” said Notch. “I think it changed their prospective on the Greek community.”
