For the first time ever, multiple colleges around Ohio are participating in a statewide student financial wellness survey.

The Ohio Commission for Personal Finance Education is looking for 2,500 students from 27 Ohio colleges and universities to participate in the study. The goal is to get an accurate, statistically significant view of Ohio undergraduate students’ financial skills, spending habits, academic progress and credit card debt.

“For the first time, we’re going to get a factual view of the financial situation of students,” said Ron Stolle, assistant professor of finance and member of the Ohio Commission for Personal Finance Education.

“With that information, the commission will have a better understanding of what students’ issues are and will be able to better plan,” he said.

The survey is 97 online questions and will be available from Nov. 15 to Dec. 6. Participants must be undergraduate students. All information will be confidential and anonymous.
