As Election Day draws near, candidate cannot express enough the importance of voting, especially to college students. What are the thoughts on this year’s election? TV-2 reporter Heather Wells has the story.

Voting for the first time, junior speech pathology major, Sara Thomas feels strongly about taking advantage of her right to vote.

Voter turnouts in primary elections are generally lower than presidential elections. In May, only 22.3% of the state’s registered voters cast ballots.

Brian Stallman, member of Kent State’s college democrats says hat one’s right to vote is one of the most important things we can do as American citizen.

BOTTOM LINE IS IF YOU DON’T VOTE YOU DON’T MATTER AND YOU COMPLETELY SURRENDER YOUR RELEVENCY.

Standup: the Presbyterian Church behind me, here on summit street, is just one of the many locations voters can go to cast their vote on Election Day. The question is, will students get out there and vote in this year’s primary election? Some students have voiced their concerns for this upcoming year and there’s a common theme among their thoughts.

Congressman Tim Ryan is up for re-election in November and says that helping college students receive an education is crucial for society.

WELL WE’VE DONE A TON FOR COLLEGE STUDENTS. UH YOU KNOW, MILLIONS OF DOLLARS WENT TO KENT STATE, I THINK ROUGHLY 10 MILLION DOLLARS, UM FOR US PELL GRANTS TO MAKE SURE MORE KIDS CAN AFFORD TO GO TO SCHOOL.

The election takes place November 2nd and it cannot come a day sooner for Thomas.
