Letter to the Editor: Response to Article on Student Fees

Emily Vincent

Your article in today’s Daily Kent Stater says that “a student attending a Kent State regional campus will pay about $500 to $1,000 more per year than one attending an Ohio University regional campus.” I would like to point out that a student attending the Kent campus of Kent State pays less than a student attending Ohio University’s main campus.

Today, Kent State’s annualized tuition and fees for a full-time freshman rank seventh of the universities behind Miami, Cincinnati, Bowling Green, Ohio University, Ohio State and Akron. Assuming the plan is approved and a full roll-in of the fee is implemented, and everything else remains the same, Kent State would still rank fourth in tuition and fees (still behind OU), again assuming no change at the other institutions.
