The top-seeded Kent State men’s basketball team fell to the ninth-seeded Ohio Bobcats 81-64 in the quarterfinals of the Mid-American Conference Tournament tonight in the Quicken Loans Arena.
The Flashes’ defense struggled to stop Ohio’s Armon Bassett, giving up 38 points to the junior guard.
Chris Singletary led the Flashes in scoring with 19 points, but battled foul trouble after getting his third foul late in the first half. Singletary fouled out with 2:49 remaining in regulation.
The Bobcats shot almost 56 percent from the field in the first half while going five-for-10 from three-point range to take a 16-point lead into halftime.
The Flashes were able to come back to within three points, but never managed to take the lead from Ohio.
After winning the MAC regular season title, Kent State will participate in the National Invitation Tournament. The Flashes will find out who their first matchup is against after selections are made final for the NCAA Tournament.
