Lady Flashes: Making the grade

DKS Editors

“Those who forget history are

doomed to repeat it.”

Who cares what scholar originally authored this quote (coach Bob Lindsay maybe?), it should be the Kent State women’s basketball team’s mantra this season.

The Flashes cannot be happy with the way they went out last season with a heartbreaking loss to Buffalo in their first playoff game.

It’s time for the team to start hitting the boards and the rulebooks again, and the Stater has preseason grades for the Flashes.

Extracurriculars:

&bull Geography: Kent State’s roster consists of players from all across the globe, hailing from four different countries (United States, Ontario, France and Kenya).

&bull History: After coming up just short of 20 wins last season, the Flashes are looking to achieve the mark for the fourth time this decade.

&bull First Year Experience: Freshman Tamzin Barroilhet will provide depth at guard for the Flashes this season. Barroilhet, born in St. Maxime, France, started for England at the European U-20 Tournament while averaging nine points per game in six games.

&bull Intro to Statistics: The Flashes were 1-7 on the road in Mid-American Conference play last season, a record they must improve to compete for a conference title. Kent State’s first test in MAC play will come Jan. 9 when the team travels to Oxford to face Miami.
