The Brewhouse Pub is hosting a fundraiser tonight in memory of Christopher Kernich, the business student who died Saturday of injuries he suffered in an off-campus assault last week.

Senior nursing major Sara Syroka, one of Kernich’s friends, said he gave one last gift to the world. His organs were donated to seven people, with his heart going to a 50-year-old man.

The fundraiser will begin at 9 p.m. and end at 2 a.m. All who attend must pay a $5 cover charge, which will go to Kernich’s family to pay medical bills and other expenses.

Syroka said several local businesses donated gift cards and other items to be raffled off during the event. In addition, Red Sun Rising will play in the basement of the Brewhouse.
