Recount shows no change in results

It’s official: Jerry Fiala will take office as Kent’s next mayor in January.

Although results have not been posted to the Portage County Board of Elections Web site yet, this morning’s recount showed no change in the final count of 2,502 votes each for Fiala and Rick Hawksley.

A coin flip took place on Nov. 20 to call the tie, which ended in Fiala’s favor.
