A host of Kent State students filled the room with laughter last night in Oscar Ritchie Hall’s lecture room when Omega Psi Phi fraternity re-enacted the popular American show “The Dating Game.”

The lights were set low, and the mood was just right to begin the game.

There were two alumni daters: Torrie Humes, member of Sigma Gamma Rho sorority, and Lester Troutman, senior general studies major and member of Omega Psi Phi.

The daters sat on one side of an imaginary paper curtain while the contestants sat on the other.

Contestants were asked questions like Will you kiss on the first date? Are you a giver, receiver or opportunist? Where would you like to go on the first date? And wild sexual questions like do you prefer foreplay or straight to it?

Daysha Powers, junior athletic training major, was eliminated after the second round.

“I wanted to be eliminated because I did not want to go on a date with Lester. I tried to answer the questions in a nonchalant manner so that he would eliminate me,” she said. “The game was pretty funny though.”

It was obvious the student contestants strived to entertain the audience; most of the contestants teased the daters.

“I lived an imaginary life during the game,” said Chatiera Ray, junior fashion merchandising major. “I had four kids and had the lifestyle of a gold digger.”

Ray was also eliminated after the second round.

Dre Housen, member of Omega Psi Phi, used his sense of humor and won the date with Humes.

Contestant No. 6, sophomore nursing major Chenai Milton won over Troutman’s heart, and both couples will be going on a date paid for by Omega Psi Phi.

One-third of the proceeds from the show will go to the Homeless Family Foundation.
