University looks to purchase city land, build bonds
June 17, 2009
At the Board of Trustees meeting on June 4, the board resolved to purchase land to be used for future expansion of the university.
The properties are owned by Joshua R. Greene and are located at 220 and 214 South Willow Street. The land consists of .4 acres.
While the university has no immediate use for the properties, acquiring them is consistent with plans for the Kent State University Gateway which will connect the Kent State Campus with downtown Kent.
Kent State will purchase the properties with funds from the Kent State University Board of Trustees Real Estate Investment Fund. The purchase price for the Greene properties is $267,000.
Kent State already owns properties off of South Lincoln Street, East College Avenue and South Willow Street.
