The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating an incident where an unnamed flight technology student and instructor experienced a hard landing around 1:10 p.m at the Portage County Regional Airport yesterday.

Tom Neumann, associate vice president of university communication and marketing, said there were no injuries, no property damage and that it was definitely not a crash.

“It was a gear-up landing,” said FAA spokeswoman Elizabeth Isham Cory, “Which means the plane landed without the wheels out.”

The student and instructor’s names were not released, but Neumann called it an equipment problem. Isham Cory said the FAA will continue to investigate the cause of the incident and whether rules of flight were followed by the student and instructor.
