One day left to return USG applications
February 17, 2009
Out of the 48 applications students have picked up to run for Undergraduate Student Government, only three have been returned.
Applications for the directors and college senators are due at 5 p.m. tomorrow.
Students running for appointed senator positions have a little longer to get the 160 signatures needed to complete the process. Appointed senator applications are not due until 5 p.m. on Mar. 12 with interviews to follow.
All applications can be picked up and turned in to the Center for Student Involvement in Room 226 on the second floor of the Student Center.
USG adviser Donna Carlton said when turning in applications, just like with most deadlines, students put the task off until the last day.
“They’ll start rolling in between today and Wednesday, with the bulk coming in on the due day.”
All students who turn in applications are considered unofficial candidates until Friday, when Carlton said those who meet the requirements can officially begin campaigning for the Mar. 10 elections.
In order to run in the election, the student must maintain a 2.25 GPA, be enrolled in and regularly attending eight credit hours and must have passed at least six credit hours in the fall semester.
