Big Freakin’ Party for freshmen
January 29, 2009
Games, music in Eastway
Dining Services is hosting its first party recognizing freshmen who have made it through their first semester at Kent State.
The event, “The Big Freakin’ Party,” is 5 to 11 p.m. tonight at the Eastway Center. There will be root beer pong, Wii games, a disc jockey, a mechanical bull and many other activities.
Freshmen who attend the event will receive a medal and their names will be listed on a wall of recognition.
“We wanted to celebrate their success, not just send out letters,” said Autumn Pillar, director of marketing for Dining Services .
A photographer will be available to take pictures of students standing next to their names at the wall of recognition. Dining Services will provide funnels cakes, corn dogs, flaming desserts, hot cocoa and other types of food and drinks.
Live bands will also be performing throughout the night. While listening to music, students will have the chance to meet friends quickly through “speed friending.”
“It’s going to be the best party you’ve ever experienced at Kent State,” Pillar said.
If the university cancels classes, the party will still go on.
