Tim Burton’s classic gets a new soundtrack
“‘Twas a long time ago, longer now than it seems, in a place that perhaps you have seen in your dreams. For the story that you are about to be told began with the holiday worlds of old. Now you’ve probably wondered where holidays come from, if you haven’t I’d say that it’s time you’ve begun.”
Experience Tim Burton’s masterpiece “The Nightmare Before Christmas” again with Walt Disney Records’ “Nightmare Revisited.”
This 20-track CD, released on Oct. 25, features original songs from the motion picture with a little twist. It features artists like Marilyn Manson, The All-American Rejects, Flyleaf, Korn, Rise Against, The Plain White T’s and Amy Lee as they recreate Danny Elfman’s classic songs.
Flyleaf’s version of “What’s This?” is amazing. The song is a little different from the original in that the music is slowed down and there is a certain rock edge added to the song that I didn’t see coming. This song is probably one of my favorites on the album.
Amy Lee from Evanescence recreates “Sally’s Song.” Her pure and beautiful voice really captures the essence of the song. I found myself singing along to the melody and remembering how much I love the motion picture.
Shiny Toy Guns also does a great job recreating the finale of the film, where Jack and Sally confess their love for one another.
This CD also features an opening and closing by the brilliant Danny Elfman and a variety of instrumental tracks performed by The Vitamin String Quartet, Datarock and Yoshida Brothers.
“Nightmare Revisited” is now available in stores. The packaging of the CD is unique, complete with colorful pictures of your favorite characters from the film, which I think fans will really appreciate.
If you’re a “Nightmare Before Christmas” fan and enjoyed the soundtrack of the film, then I definitely suggest that you pick up a copy.
