Administrative changes and retirements announced by Kent State

Kent State announced Tuesday several changes to leadership in the Division of Academic Affairs.

Effective May 15, James Blank will be returning as a full-time faculty member in the Department of Biological Sciences after serving as dean of the College of Arts and Sciences for eight years.

Interim Senior Associate Provost for Academic Affairs Mandy Munro-Stasiuk will assume the role of interim dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. A permanent dean will be announced at a later date.

Effective June 30, the dean of the College of Nursing and Henderson Memorial Endowed Chair, Barbara Broome, will retire. Broome became the first African American dean of the college when she was hired in 2014.

Denice Sheehan will assume the role of interim dean of the College of Nursing. A permanent dean will be announced at a later date.

Effective June 30, Interim Dean Division of Graduate Studies Cynthia Stillings will retire. Stillings served at Kent State for nearly three decades. The Graduate Admissions Office and the Division of Enrollment Management will now work collectively. 

Sean Broghammer, associate vice president for enrollment management, and Lana Whitehead, assistant dean of graduate studies, will lead the division. Manfred van Dulmen will lead both the Division of Graduate Studies and assume the role of interim dean of Graduate Studies.
