The newest installment in the “Guitar Hero” series is unlike any other game in the series. The game, released on Oct. 26, combines the old with the new.

“Guitar Hero: World Tour” features 86 songs from both classic artists and artists that are popular today. The game features songs from artists such as Nirvana, Blink-182, Van Halen, R.E.M., Sex Pistols, Oasis, Jane’s Addiction, System of a Down and Korn. As opposed to the other Guitar Hero games, this game has something to offer every music fan.

Besides the killer tracks featured in this game, “World Tour” is the first in the series to feature drum and microphone controls, similar to Rock Band. When gamers play as a band, everyone shares the star power and must activate it at the same time. This feature allows players to play as a team in the Battle of the Bands mode and collectively work together, just like a real rock band.

A new level has also been added to the game. Traditionally, there have been four levels in the game: easy, medium, hard and expert. With Guitar Hero World Tour, a beginner level has been added to help less-experienced players develop their skills.

One of the greatest things about this game is that players can create their own character in the Create-a-Rocker mode. Players can create their ideal rock star by choosing everything from their clothes and make-up and right down to their tattoos. For assistance, players can use the original characters of the series as templates and character models like Travis Barker, Ozzy Osbourne and Jimi Hendrix to create their character.

As if this feature weren’t enough, the game also features the Advanced Studio Mode that allows players to create their own songs note-by-note. Players can rock out in a variety of locations, making them feel like they’re playing at events such as Ozzfest.

Being a fan of the Guitar Hero series, I can honestly say this particular game surpasses all of the other games in the series hands down. This game is definitely something for Guitar Hero fans to be excited about.
