Sponsor: Phi Sigma Pi – National Coed Honors Fraternity

Major: Advertising

Honors and Activities: Phi Sigma Pi (Director of PR and Communications), Club English (Event Planner), and KSU Ad Club/Handsome Duckling Student Ad Agency (Secretary)

My dream job is: Professional basketball player (only in my dreams though). But in reality I hope to one day have a career as a novelist/screen writer or working in Account Services at a major Ad Agency.

My best stress reliever is: Spending time with my girlfriend. Plus, writing, chai tea and working out.

Best memory at Kent: Falling in love with my amazing girlfriend, as well as participating in service-related projects with various organizations and forming relationships with people that I know will be lifelong friends.

My iPod is always playing: Brand New, Bright Eyes, Sufjan Stevens and the Decemberists

Celebrity Crush: Nope, I am a one woman man.

I have a fetish for: Romantic dramedies, crime-comedies and ice cream.

Never have I ever: Flown (on a plane or with a super human ability).

Why I deserve the crown: I am honestly just honored to a part of the 2008 Homecoming Court. Everyone on court is deserving, and I am just looking forward to the experience.

Abby Kruszynski

Nickname: Abby

Hometown: Richfield

Sponsor: Honors College

Major: Hospitality Management

Honors and activities: Founders Scholar, President’s List, Kent Student Ambassadors, KSU Chapter of the Professional Convention Management Association, Senior Student Desk Receptionist for the Department of Residence Services, intramural broomball, volleyball, soccer, and softball (at various times throughout my college career), Golden Key,

Relay for Life

My dream job is: One where I can be successful and happy both professionally and personally. I’d like to work in higher education and student affairs and at some point in time, I want to plan and coordinate special events. Also, I want to be a mom.

My best stress reliever is: Procrastinating and wasting time (typically watching TV) until I’m really under the gun and then actually doing whatever needs to be done.

Best memories at Kent: Having the chance to play intramural broomball together with my older and younger brothers, Zak and Josh, having breakfast with my (then) new friends (and now my closest friends) at Eastway every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 8:17 a.m. freshman year and working with a great staff for the best boss on campus, Pat Pine, at the Twin and (now) Tri-Towers Residence Hall desks.

My iPod is always playing: Rilo Kiley, Death Cab for Cutie or The Lawrence Arms

Celebrity crush: After this season’s first episode of The Office I’d have to say, Jim Halpert, so John Krasinski, I guess.I’d hardly have to change my last name if we got married.

I have a fetish for: Um…

Never have I ever: Been more excited for or anxious of my future.

Why I deserve the crown: It’s a huge honor just to be on court. All 12 of us are great examples of Kent State’s finest and we all deserve to win, but I’m learning how to ballroom dance, and really, shouldn’t that be a requirement for any queen?

My iPod is always playing: Top 40 hits.

Celebrity crush: Beyonce seems like a nice girl.

I have a fetish for: Pasta, pasta, pasta!

Never have I ever: Eaten a Tootsie Roll.

Why I deserve the crown: I have just really worked hard through my college career and tried to represent Kent State to the best of my ability. The education I have received from this University and specifically the School of Journalism has launched me into a career path where I know I will succeed. Getting the crown would allow me to positively represent the university that has done so much for me.
