The 8th Annual Bowman Cup 5K Race for Ability will be 8 a.m. Saturday.

Pre-registration will be accepted until Thursday, Oct. 9 at 5 p.m. Day-of race registration is $25.

Recreational Services is teaming up with Student Accessibility Services for this year’s race. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Special Olympics.

The 5K race starts at the Student Recreation and Wellness Center and continues on the Portage Hike & Bike Trail then loops through Kent’s residential area.

All participants will be enrolled in a 1-Mile Walk & Roll that will take place directly after the Bowman Cup 5K. The Walk & Roll is designed to raise awareness for the Special Olympics.

The first place through third place overall winners, male and female, will receive cash prizes. New this year, the first place male and female winners will be recognized on the field during the Homecoming football game.

The first 300 participants will receive Bowman Cup T-shirts. A free buffet is available for all in attendance.

Fees are $8 for students, $17 for Kent State employees and alumni and $20 for community members. Registration is available at The Pro Shop, online at www.recservices.kent.edu or by calling 330-672-4732.
