CiderFest to bring together food, music

Nick Baker

Standing Rock Cultural Arts will hold the fifth annual CiderFest at noon tomorrow at the corner of Main and Water streets in the Home Savings Plaza in downtown Kent.

Beckwith Orchards will provide hot cider and caramel apples, as well as apples used to make fresh cider in an old-fashioned cider press.

The Kent All-Stars, a group of Appalachian folk musicians, will perform at 2 p.m. The All-Stars play for the Kent Shindig and will make their first festival appearance this year.

Star of the West Milling Co. will sponsor a pie-tasting contest. The winner will be awarded $100. A slice of pie costs $1, and all profits from pie sales will benefit the Davey Elementary School Parent-Teacher Organization.

This event will mark the last of the year for Standing Rock Cultural Arts’ Downtown Innovative Community Events initiative. D.I.C.E. is a partnership between Standing Rock and several Kent businesses whose purpose is to revitalize downtown Kent.
