Being the entertainment journalism junkie that I am, I’ve been devouring each issue of all ever since I first stepped foot on campus way back in Fall 2006.

I’ve always found it interesting to see how different semesters bring different editors, and thus, somewhat different content to all. Overall though, I’ve noticed the content always seems to revolve around new music and movies. You may have noticed the same thing.

So now that I’m sitting here writing my first editor’s note as the new all editor, it only seems fitting to explain what you can expect from the coverage in this semester’s all I know, I know. We’ve already put out three issues. You have it all figured out already. You’ve seen our coverage of Black Squirrel Festival and local bands, among the other usual things.

And while we plan on keeping some of the usual things (after all, who doesn’t love a well-written album review?), the all staff would like to throw some new ideas into the mix.

What do you think about when I mention the word “entertainment?” I, like most people, think music and movies, maybe even television. But what about video games, plays and local businesses?

A few months ago, I heard someone say they’ve never read anything about video games in all, and although that blows my mind, I couldn’t disagree.

Okay, so I’ll admit it. I don’t feel like banging away on my Rock Band drums or my oh-so-long quest to become a Guitar Hero(ine) necessarily makes me the best choice to write about video games.

But I, as well as other all staff members, am interested in providing you with video game information and reviews-no matter if you’re an avid gamer geek or you’re picking up a Playstation control for the first time (let’s hope that’s not the case though). Chances are, you’ll find them helpful, or at the very least, interesting.

We’re going to try to run more play and musical reviews. Again, plays may not be the first thing you think about when it comes to entertainment, but it is entertainment. And many people, myself included, thoroughly enjoy a good musical.

Overall, we want to offer more appeal than just music and movies. Everyone loves music and movies, that’s a given. But many people are entertained by video games too-and we want to reach out and entertain everyone.

Sure, it’s a risk. But it’s a risk we’re hoping you’d like us to take. We’ve already started playing with new ideas for this issue. Instead of a single review, we have four different reviews for “Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist.” We’re hoping that by providing our favorite movie genres, you can match your taste in films to ours and get more from our package than you would with an individual review.

We also have a piece about Criterion DVDs – something else you don’t see very much of in all. And don’t worry, we still have band shows galore.
