Stevens will return to faculty as dean emeritus, adviser

Provost Robert Frank named Robert “Yank” Heisler the new dean of the College of Business Administration and Graduate School of Management Friday. Heisler will begin his new position Oct. 20.

Heisler will replace George Stevens, who will return to the faculty with the title of dean emeritus and senior adviser to the dean. Stevens announced his plans to return to the faculty during the summer.

“As we began looking to undertaking the search, it became clear that Yank provided a considerable number of skills,” Frank said, adding that Stevens decided to step down earlier than he had previously projected.

President Lester Lefton hired Heisler last September as special assistant to the president for community and business strategies.

When David Creamer announced he was leaving to take a job at Miami University, Heisler stepped in on an interim basis to fill the post as vice president for business and finance. Indiana State’s Gregg Floyd has since been appointed to the position.

Heisler said he is excited about beginning his new position and is looking forward to working with students, faculty and the community.

Frank said he expects Heisler to fill the role for three years. In two years, he will consult with the faculty to see if they want to keep Heisler in the position or conduct a national search.
