Heisler appointed business dean
September 18, 2008
Provost Robert Frank named Robert “Yank” Heisler as the new dean of the College of Business Administration and Graduate School of Management. The appointment is effective Oct. 20.
Heisler will replace George Stevens who will return to the faculty with the title of dean emeritus and senior adviser to the dean.
“As we began looking to undertaking the search, it became clear that Yank provided a considerable number of skills,” Frank said, adding that Stevens decided to step down earlier than he had previously projected.
President Lester Lefton hired Heisler last September as special assistant to the president for community and business strategies. When David Creamer announced he was leaving to take a job at Miami University, Heisler stepped in on an interim basis to fill the post as vice president for business and finance. Indiana State’s Gregg Floyd has since been appointed to the position.
Stevens announced his plans to return to the faculty last summer. He has held the position since 1995 and other administrative positions for the last 20 years.
