Kent State’s Faculty Senate held its first meeting of the semester this afternoon.

During the meeting, faculty members were given updates on several initiatives, including the provost’s office’s plans for a school of public health. Provost Robert Frank said that after initial consideration, plans for a public health school seem possible for sometime in the next five to six years.

The senate also heard from Evelyn Goldsmith, interim dean for Graduate Studies, informed attendees that three proposals from the Committee to Consider a Graduate Council will be discussed at an Educational Policies Council meeting Sept. 29.

The senate will meet next at 3:20 p.m., Oct. 13 in the Student Center Governance Chambers.
