The Kent State soccer team opened its 2008 season with a 1-0 victory at Youngstown State this afternoon.

Sophomore Kelly Heaton scored the only goal of the game on a scramble near the goal with 10:47 remaining. It was her first career collegiate goal.

The Flashes (1-0) will play next at 7 p.m. Friday at Wright State.
