Professor to give first of four history lectures at Akron Art Museum tonight
February 21, 2008
Albert Reischuck, assistant professor of art, will present a lecture “Art History 101: Love and Family/Gender Issues” at 6:30 p.m. at the Akron Art Museum, located at 1 S. High St. in downtown Akron.
The lecture is open to the public and is free to museum members and $7 for non-museum members. Following the lecture, audience members are encouraged to visit the museum’s galleries to see the work they just learned about.
This is one of four more lectures Reischuck will give at the museum. The series runs through May. He said he will discuss everything tonight from Norman Rockwell and other traditional, accessible art to art the audience is not likely to have seen before.
“There’s a lot of elitism in the art work,” Reischuck said. “A fixed topic might not touch on your life. But the series gives you the most chances to connect with modern and contemporary art.”
