A rally in front of the student union calling for the end to the war and imperialistic oppression by the United States, April 16, 1969. The group marched through Merrill and Kent Halls, shouting “these buildings are ours.” It proceeded to the Music and Speech Building, where a glass door was broken so the protesters could get in—prying the hinges off the doors and breaking the chains—then moving on to occupy the third floor of the building. The protesters called for an open student conduct hearing for SDS leaders Colin Neiburger and Alan DiMarco, whose hearing was interrupted by the protest.
