New show to discuss men’s basketball, university
December 5, 2007
People who wish to know more about the Kent State men’s basketball program will now have an opportunity to do so.
The Jim Christian Show will debut tonight at 7 p.m. on SportsTime Ohio and will replay at 9 p.m. and 10:30 p.m.
“I think it’s kind of a weekly insight into our basketball program (to) discuss the things that happen that week,” said Christian, the men’s basketball coach. “(There will be) a lot of player profiles. This way, the people who follow Kent can get a good understanding of those guys, what they’re like on the floor (and) off the floor.”
The program will air on Wednesdays at 7 p.m. until March 29, according to kentstatesports.com. It will replay Thursdays at 3:30 p.m. and other times throughout the week, the Web site said.
Christian said the show will provide information on more than just the men’s basketball program. It will also cover the university and other things that happen on campus, he said.
Christian said he did a television show in his first year as Kent State coach and that it was a good experience then.
“I think it was really positive,” he said. “It was positive for us. It was great to work with the people that we work with over there. We got a chance to get to know those people; they’re true professionals, and they do a great job.”
The show is produced, written and shot by Kent State TeleProductions, which is located on campus, according to kentstatesports.com.
Christian said he hopes the exposure from the show will help the men’s basketball program.
“I just think the more people who get to know your program and what the values of your program are, the more interest you can generate in Kent State basketball,” Christian said. “Maybe that will help people come out to games and maybe it will help people who (are) potential recruits in the area. I think the more exposure our basketball program gets, the better it is for us.”
