Seminar to help groups reach audiences
November 7, 2007
Marketing, media and buzz-branding are the topics of a seminar at 6 p.m. tonight in Room 319 of the Student Center, directed by Evan Bailey, media specialist in the Office of Student Media.
Part of the Center of Student Involvement’s Student Leadership Workshops series, Bailey said he was a natural choice for directing the marketing workshop with his experience on the All-Campus Programming Board and Student Senate when he was a student.
“I think there’s a belief that there’s a one-size-fits-all approach to marketing, and audiences are very different,” he said.
Unique to college organizations, Bailey said, is the educational value of leadership of a student organization. Creating some benefit for their audience is one of the challenges, and Bailey said he hopes to address the individual concerns of those in attendance.
“They’re learning experiences that you can’t really have in any classroom,” he said. “I think that’s what’s great and also very challenging.”
