Several students and faculty members will host workshops today through Saturday as part of International Education Week.

The week is a joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education to celebrate international education and exchange worldwide, according to the International Education Week Web site.

Above all, the goal of International Education Week is “to promote programs that prepare Americans for a global environment and attract future leaders from abroad to study, learn and exchange experiences in the United States.”

“All in all, it’s an opportunity for students and faculty to gain a global perspective and to learn about some international opportunities that are available to them through Kent State,” said Kenneth Cushner, executive director of the Office of International Affairs. “It’s also an opportunity to learn about some of the international initiatives that are underway at Kent State and to emphasize the importance of learning about another’s perspective.”

Scheduled events for the week include panel discussions with international students, study abroad information sessions and an international student reception, among other workshops.
