Book drive to benefit children’s hospital
November 14, 2007
Club English and Sigma Tau Delta, the English Honorary Society, are co-sponsoring a book drive for the Akron Children’s Hospital.
“It’s a good cause,” said Nicholas DiSabatino, president of Club English and Sigma Tau Delta Xi Mu Chapter. “Akron Children’s Hospital is a good cause, and books never go out of fashion.”
They are looking for new or gently-used children’s or young adult books. Books can be dropped off at White Hall, the information desk at the Student Center, the help desk at the University Library, the Ravenna Library, Johnson Hall and the Reading Room in Satterfield Hall.
They started the book drive last year and received more than 100 books. This year they started earlier and DiSabatino said they have all ready received over 200 books.
“We plan on doing this every year,” DiSabatino said. “Lots of organizations are doing food drives, which is good, but this specifically helps children and last year they were very grateful.”
The book drive will be held until finals week.
