Conservation competition speech to be held tonight
October 10, 2007
Thomas Dunn, associate director of Campus Environment and Operations, will speak at the Student Center’s Governance Chamber tonight from 6 to 7:30 p.m. His speech marks the introduction of an energy conservation competition between residence halls.
The conservation competition is sponsored by Residence Services and Campus Environment and Operations and will be held from Oct. 15 through Nov. 13.
During his speech, Dunn will explain the energy conservation competition and give students energy-saving tips.
“I don’t think students relate well to how much money is spent on energy here,” Dunn said. “But they do relate to how they can help.”
Marijean Benedik, assistant director of Residence Services, said the purpose of Dunn’s speech is to raise awareness and get students thinking about their role in energy conservation.
Tonight, Dunn will announce how the residence halls will be divided into teams for the competition.
A question-and-answer session will follow.
