The Nightingale Project works to put an end to the stigma around mental illness
April 9, 2020
One in three college students suffer from depression.
Almost half of all college students report feeling anxiety.
These facts come as no surprise to college students who deal with these struggles every day. Many students experience these issues for the first time while away at college and Kent State is trying to be prepared for these students by offering counseling at DeWeese Health Center and White Hall.
Even with counseling offered, some students do not or cannot attend. This is why there are many student-run groups, like The Nightingale Project created by junior Antonina Schubert, that aim to help others with their mental battles and try to put an end to the stigma surrounding mental health.
If you or someone you know is struggling with mental illness you can call the National Alliance on Mental Illness at 1-800-950-NAMI (6264).
