Women’s basketball players honored
With the Kent State women’s basketball regular season already in the books, the awards are beginning to trickle in. Seniors Kristin Peoples and La’Kia Stewart earned All-Mid-American Conference second team honors Saturday night at the Marriott Key Center in downtown Cleveland.
Peoples led the Flashes in five categories, including points per game with 16.6, fourth best in the conference. Stewart, who earned the Sixth Man of the Year award last year, recorded seven double-doubles on the season and leads the Flashes in rebounding with eight a game. She also scores 13.7 points a contest.
Freshman guard Jamilah Humes was also honored. She was one of five players to be named to the MAC all-Freshman Team.
In the second round of the 2007 Kraft MAC Women’s tournament the Flashes will face Northern Illinois 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Quicken Loans Arena.
