‘Soothe Your Nerves’
February 6, 2007
College is a stressful place. Anyone who wants to learn strategies to remove fear and anxiety from his or her life can come to the “Soothe Your Nerves” brown bag lunch presentations.
Associate psychology professor Angela Neal-Barnett and master musician/composer Bernadette Blount Salley will give presentations in the Women’s Resource Center to teach ways to reduce anxiety and stress in the workplace. The workshops are based in part on the book Soothe Your Nerves by Neal-Barnett.
Part one will be held Friday, and part two will be held on Feb. 23. Both are from 12:30-1:30 p.m. in the Women’s Resource Center. Bring a brown bag lunch and contact the Women’s Resource Center at (330) 672-9230 to register.
Neal-Barnett said part one involves learning how and why anxiety and stress are created. She will also teach ways to overcome it. During part two, attendees will use music to create a theme song to help overcome anxiety. She recommends people attend both parts.
Neal-Barnett said anybody who wants to reclaim any part of his or her life from anxiety can benefit from attending the presentations.
“I think the saddest thing in the world is to live a fearful and anxious life,” she said.
