Kent State loses 41-14
A second half melt down led to the Kent State football team’s 41-14 loss Saturday against Buffalo.
After leading 14-3 at half time, the Flashes turned the ball over four times in the third quarter, two interceptions and two fumbles, which the Bulls converted into 24 points.
Buffalo freshman James Starks led the Bulls (2-7, 1-5 Mid-American Conference) with 152 yards on 23 carries and three touchdowns, two of which coming in the third.
The Flashes 14 points came from sophomore quarterback Julian Edelman in the second quarter. The first was on 4-yard run with 7:29 left in the half.
After an interception by junior defensive back Jack Williams, the Flashes regained possession. Edelman capped off the 99-yard drive with a 4-yard touchdown.
The loss could end the Flashes hopes for a MAC championship run. Ohio (7-3, 5-1 MAC) took sole possession of the No.1 spot in the MAC with a 16-10 victory over Eastern Michigan.
